I believe the qualifications for the position of Rumford tax collector should include:
• Willing to serve the taxpayers in a friendly, respectful and courteous manner;
• Being well educated, experienced, organized and up to date with the latest accounting and bookkeeping skills;
• Able to work with a cooperative spirit with the town manager, fellow town officers and the board of selectmen;
• Being a problem solver who seeks ways to improve and independently manage the office;
• Being proficient in office and computer skills.
If town voters are looking for those attributes in a candidate, they need look no further than Deborah Giasson. She has those assets and more, and would very ably fill the soon-to-be vacant office of tax collector.
Ginny Perkins, Rumford
