I applaud Maine lawmakers in their reduction of state spending. These were difficult decisions in very difficult times.

Now that this reduction process has been started, perhaps they could also now address the problem of our outstanding bond debt. Spending has been reduced, but our borrowing continues. Again, I am grateful for their first steps; but, no matter what you call it, spending or borrowing, debt is debt and the Maine taxpayer is responsible for repayment.
