CASTINE (AP) – Maine Maritime Academy’s historic schooner Bowdoin is to set sail for Newfoundland and Labrador as part of its summer sail training expeditions.
The Bowdoin sails at noon Tuesday from the academy’s Castine waterfront.
Maine Maritime’s annual sail training courses aboard the Bowdoin provide hands-on instruction in traditional sail techniques. Once under way, students will learn navigation techniques, under way maintenance and seamanship under the direction of professionally licensed seafarers.
Capt. John Worth will be skipper during the voyage to Newfoundland.
