PERRY (AP) – A Maine state senator says someone is making false phone calls pretending to be him.
Republican Kaevin Raye of Perry says a woman called him Saturday saying her mother in Calais received a call from a man claiming to be Raye. The man told her he was collecting money for veterans and asked for her credit card information. The woman didn’t have a credit card, so the man didn’t get her information.
Raye tells WCSH-TV that he wants people to know he’s not making the calls, and that they should not give out their personal information over the phone.
