LITCHFIELD – Winthrop outslugged Sabattus in both halves of an Apple Valley Babe Ruth baseball doubleheader, prevailing 12-10 in the opener before breezing 11-3 in the nightcap.

Travis Luce, Dan Miles and Zach Steele each singled twice for Winthrop in the first game. Travis Sherman and Connor Doyle each added a single in support of winning pitcher Zach Steele. Donnie Vannah was a repeat hitter for Sabattus. Brady Dion, Stevens and Ridley also slapped singles for Sabattus.

Chris Bowers and Nate Bowers clouted a double and single in the second triumph for Winthrop (4-0). Luce, Doyle and Tyler Stockford each singled twice, and Carl Mayer contributed a hit. Jim Theriault notched the pitching win.

Brady Dion delivered three hits for Sabattus (0-4). Jared Glazier, Pelletier, Stevens and Dyer each singled.
