PITTSFIELD, N.H. (AP) – A father and daughter have died in a three-alarm fire at an apartment building in Pittsfield, N.H.
Authorities said the father had managed to leave the building, then went back inside to get his daughter, who is disabled.
Firefighters did not release the names of the victims, but neighbors identified them as 54-year-old Richard Johnston and 26-year-old Heidi Johnston, the New Hampshire Union Leader reported.
Firefighters said everyone is accounted for; three of the four apartments were rented.
The fire started at about 5:20 a.m. Monday. Firefighters from about 10 communities responded.
The fire caused a power outage at the nearby Pittsfield Middle High School. Authorities closed the school.
