MEXICO – Roland C. Barker, 77, of Mexico, died Sunday, June 7, at his home.

He was born in Rumford, March 28, 1932, a son of Donald and Eva (Hoyt) Barker Sr. and on July 10, 1976, married Kathleen Buck in Dixfield at the American Legion Hall.

He was employed at Oxford Paper Co. and then Boise Cascade until his retirement in 1994. He was a member of the Dixfield American Legion Post 100, Sons of the American Legion-Dixfield, 40/8 and the Fraternal Order of Eagles.

He enjoyed running bingo on Saturdays and cribbage on Thursdays. He enjoyed spending time with his family; particularly his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was a Red Sox, Patriots and Celtics fan.

He is survived by his wife, Kay of Mexico; daughters, Debbie, Tammy and Linda; a special son-in-law, Herb Courtney; grandchildren, Brian, Robert Jr., April, Susan, Ashley, Jeff, Eric, Christine, Corey, Joel, Kevin, Scott, Amy, and Jocelyn; great-grandchildren, Alayna, Annabelle, Mackenzie, Ethyn, Kayla, Tessa, Dalton, Jayden, Jazmine, Corey Jr., Caitlin, Elyza; a sister, Avis Patric; brothers, George and Raymond Barker, all of Rumford; and many stepbrothers and stepsisters.

He was predeceased by his parents; stepmother, Annie Beck; sister, Beulah; brother, Donald Jr.; and son, Robert Sr. (Bobby).

The family would like to extend a special thank-you to Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice for all of their special care and an extra special thank you to Tammy, Laura, and the Rev. John Gensel, who made his final days more comfortable.
