AUGUSTA (AP) – A bill requiring restaurant chains in Maine to post calorie counts on their menus awaits final votes in the House and Senate.

The House of Representatives voted Wednesday to accept some minor changes to the bill made by the Senate, setting the stage for final approval.

The bill would apply to chain restaurants doing business under the same trade name in 20 or more locations, including at least one in Maine. Other states are considering similar bills.

Supporters say the measure promotes healthy diets.
