Andrew Lawrence Cyr of Merrimack, N.H., recently earned his master of business administration from Bentley University in Waltham, Mass. He had a dual concentration of management and management of operations technology.
Cyr, son of Karen and Michael Cyr of Monmouth, is a graduate of Monmouth Academy and Bentley College. He is employed as a senior financial analyst at BAE Systems in Nashua, N.H.
Chelsea R. Plourde of Poland graduated from Rochester Institute of Technology (NY) with a bachelor’s degree in microelectronic engineering on May 23.
Plourde studied at RIT’s Kate Gleason College of Engineering. She was co-authored on three research papers relating to work completed on during her co-operative education requirements. Plourde traveled to Belgium where she resided for six month working at the Interuniversity Microelectronics Centre, researching III-V semiconductors.
Plourde is employed as a research associate for the Nano-Power Research Lab in Rochester, N.Y., researching solar energy. She is the daughter of Roland and Carol Plourde of Poland and the granddaughter of Eugene Stevens of Lewiston and Gaston and Irene Plourde of Auburn. Plourde is a 2004 graduate of Poland Regional High School.
Danielle Laplante, daughter of Richard and Brenda Laplante of Lewiston, has been named to the dean’s list for the spring semester at the University of New England. Dean’s list students have attained a grade point average of 3.30 or better out of a possible 4.0 at the end of the semester.
A 2007 graduate of Lewiston High School, Laplante is a major in medical biology pre-physicians assistant. She is also involved in the UNE EMS Club and is an orientation leader.
Danielle Sprague of Lewiston, daughter of Helene Bernier and John Sprague, graduated cum laude from the University of Maine at Fort Kent on May 9. Sprague attained honors status in the Bachelor of Science Nursing Program and was consistently on the dean’s list for academic achievement.
Sprague was a participant in the Student Nurse Organization and was a member of the National Student Nurse Association. She excelled in her clinical rotations, including a six-week preceptorship at Mercy Hosiptal’s Fore River Birthplace in Portland.
Lisa Lundstrom, daughter of Kirk Lundstrom of Lewiston, has been named to the dean’s list for the spring semester at the University of New England. Dean’s list students have attained a grade point average of 3.3 or better out of a possible 4.0 at the end of the semester.
A 2004 graduate of Hebron Academy, Lundstrom is a major in occupational therapy. She is also involved in graduate classes to obtain her master’s degree.
Lauren Frances Metevier of North Yarmouth graduated magna cum laude from the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, Mass., on May 22 with a bachelor of arts degree in psychology with a pre-medical concentration.
While at Holy Cross, she was an officer of and played on the women’s rugby team for three years. The team, Division 4 champions of New England and National, won the Best of the East Tournament this spring.
Metevier, a dean’s list student all four years, also served as a peer educator for the Nutrition, Exercise and Eating Disorders program. She participated in the Appalachian spring break immersion program for three years in New Orleans, La., Ivanhoe and Cape Charles, Va., and was a volunteer in Kingston as a member of the two-week Jamaica immersion program in June 2008.
For the next year she will be in Portland, Ore., working as the recreational coordinator at a men’s rehabilitation in-patient program through the Jesuit Volunteers Organization in the Northwest.
A graduate of Cheverus High School in 2005, Metevier is the daughter of Paul and Gay (Peterson) Metevier of North Yarmouth. Mrs. Metevier is a former Auburn resident. She is the granddaughter of Beverly and the late Richard Peterson of Auburn and Virginia and the late Robert Metevier of Kittery.
The following students were among the 494 students who received degrees at St. Lawrence University’s commencement May 17 on campus in Canton, N.Y.:
Sean M. Murphy of Leeds graduated from Leavitt Area High School in Turner and received a degree cum laude in biology and minored in chemistry and sociology.
Matthew B. Sonagere of Auburn graduated from Edward Little High School in Auburn and received a degree magna cum laude in neuroscience. He minored in chemistry. Sonagere earned departmental honors in neuroscience at St. Lawrence.
Ryan Fleury of Winthrop, son of Kim Fleury, received his bachelor of science in political communication: leadership, politics and social advocacy cum laude from Emerson College on May 18. He is a 2005 graduate of Winthrop High School.
Ryan P. Martin has graduated magna cum laude from the University of Maine in Orono. He has received his bachelor’s degree of liberal arts and sciences in new media with a minor in psychology. Martin is the son of Matthew and Shanna Martin of Farmington.
Amanda Michaud of Lewiston received a bachelor of arts in psychology at Wilkes University’s commencement on May 16 in Wilkes-Barre, Pa.
Benjamin C.B. Randall of Greene, son of Jolene and Mark Randall, has accepted a Buschmann Award from Xavier University in Cincinnati. He just graduated from St. Dominic Regional High School, where he was active in varsity athletics, as a student ambassador and was vice president of the senior class. Randall plans to major in marketing at Xavier. The Buschmann Award is based on a student’s record in high school and amounts vary.

Chantal McLellan of Lewiston is one of nearly a dozen Assumption College students who have found summer jobs without leaving campus in Worcester, Mass.
The undergraduates are conducting or assisting in research related to their majors. Funding for their paid summer research positions comes from academic department budgets, the Assumption honors program or from competitive grants awarded to faculty.
McLellan, a junior, is working in a laboratory to synthesize several natural products with anti-tumor properties.

Helen Paille, daughter of Ken and Sally Paille, longtime residents of Auburn, now living in Wisconsin, received her bachelor’s degree from Bates College on May 31.
Paille attended St. Joseph School and and St. Dominic Regional High School before graduating from Quaker Valley High School in Sewickley, Pa.
At Bates, Paille was coordinator of the Women’s Resource Center. She will attend William Mitchell College of Law in St.Paul, Minn.
