PORTLAND (AP) – On the same day a swine flu pandemic was declared, WGME-TV reported that its anchor and health reporter has come down with the virus.

Kim Block said Thursday in an interview that she’s on the mend, but that recovery has been slow. The Maine Center for Disease Control and Prevention confirmed earlier this week that testing confirmed she contracted the H1N1 virus. She’s no longer contagious.

The Maine CDC has confirmed an additional six swine flu cases over the past 48 hours, bringing the total number of confirmed cases among state residents to 33. Block says it’s important for people to know that you don’t have to travel to another country to get swine flu. In fact, she has no idea how she contracted it.
