A record number of competitors, 533, participated in the first race of the Greater L-A Triple Crown 5K Series. The number of entries almost doubled last years participants, said race director Tish Caldwell. Due to two new programs, Girls on the Run and Couch-to-5K, about 75 people, including DiFillipo, ran their first road race Saturday, said Wendy Tardif, council director for Girls on the Run. Seventy five children ran in the Auburn Firefighters Kid’s Fun Run. Emily’s Run, the second leg of the series, is July 26 at Edward Little High School.
