DIXFIELD – The Greenwood Cemetery has been the target of several acts of vandalism and theft during the past three weeks.
Sgt. Jeff Howe said both planted and artificial flowers have been stolen, along with several bronze markers that identify veterans’ graves and the future site of gravestones.
The cemetery borders Pine and Weld streets.
Howe said the acts are disturbing to the families of people buried in the cemetery.
“It appears to be random vandalism,” he said, adding that no one grave site has been targeted.
Anyone with any information on the matter is asked to call the Dixfield Police Department at 562-4517.
