AUGUSTA (AP) – The state energy office says the average price of heating oil in Maine rose another 6 cents in the past week and now stands at $2.33 a gallon.
The increase reported Monday comes on the heels of a 12-cent jump a week ago.
Actual prices found in the latest survey ranged from a low of $2.08 in southwestern Maine to a high of $2.55 in the northern part of the state.
The average price of kerosene was $2.76. Natural gas most recently averaged $11.30 per 1,000 cubic feet, which is equivalent to heating oil at $1.53 a gallon.
Director John Kerry of the Office of Energy Independence and Security reminded Mainers on Monday that the price of crude oil has risen nearly $33 a barrel since the market’s low point in February.
