HAMPTON, N.H. (AP) – Authorities say one man died and another was hospitalized after their 14-foot fishing boat capsized in the ocean off of Hampton Beach after hitting a wave.

The New Hampshire Marine Patrol says the men were about 50 yards offshore when they were knocked into the water Sunday night. A helicopter and boat crews responded.

As a firefighter began swimming out to them, another boater managed to pull one of the men onto their boat.

They said 46-year-old Christian Frey of South Hampton had a pulse but was not breathing and they had to perform CPR. They were able to save his life. Frey was treated and released from Exeter Regional Hospital.

The body of the second man, 25-year-old Barry Arnold of Plaistow, eventually washed ashore.
