PORTLAND (AP) – The brother and son-in-law of a Maine defense contractor who admitted paying off government officials in exchange for government contracts have pleaded guilty to conspiracy charges in connection with the bribery scheme.

Robert Subilia of Wells and Paul Hurlburt of Kennebunk entered guilty pleas Tuesday in U.S. District Court in Portland for their roles in the scheme at the U.S. Army Space and Missile Defense Command in Huntsville, Ala.

Maurice “Moe” Subilia Jr. of Kennebunkport was the main target of the investigation. He awaits sentencing after pleading guilty in February to paying $1.2 million in bribes to Army officials.

U.S. Attorney Paula Silsby said Hurlburt and Robert Subilia were aware of the scheme and made bribery payments on Moe Subilia’s behalf.

A sentencing date has not been set.
