AUGUSTA, Maine (AP) — Seeking to highlight accomplishments from the recently concluded regular session of the Maine Legislature, lawmakers and advocates are gathering at the State House to mark passage of three bills aimed at combating obesity.

Gov. John Baldacci scheduled a signing ceremony Wednesday for measures that include one requiring chain restaurants of 20 or more to post calorie information on menus, menu boards and drive-thrus.

A second measure requires schools to record the heights and weights of Maine school children and transmit the data, which is to be kept confidential, to the Maine Center for Disease Control.

The third piece of legislation creates a program encouraging elementary schools to promote physical activity and physical education.
