LEWISTON — Working Together, in partnership with the Androscoggin County Chamber of Commerce, will host an interactive seminar for businesses titled Talk to lawyers and HR specialists: A conversation about diversity in the workforce and employing people with disabilities.”
It will be held from 8:30-10:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 24, in the Community Conference Room at the Business Service Center at KeyBank Plaza. Registration begins at 8 a.m. The cost is $10 for members of Working Together or the chamber; $20 for nonmembers.
Employment lawyer Rebecca Webber of Linnell, Choate & Webber will discuss the legal ins and outs of diversifying a work force. Marcia Leander of Unum will give a business perspective on hiring a diverse work force. Merritt Carey, Working Together’s business liaison (and an employment lawyer), will discuss the business case for diversifying a work force and how to make diversity work in any business.
This session is intended to be completely interactive; those interested in attending are encouraged to bring concerns and questions, as well as information to share.
