MEXICO – Rose M. Bither, 73, of South Main Street, Mexico, died Tuesday, June 16, at her home peacefully in her sleep. She lost her fight with cancer, but her spirits were always high and she died with her family and friends at her side.

She was born in Rumford, on Jan. 21, 1936, the daughter of Joseph and Bertha (Adams) Sakalaukus and was raised by Anies and Josephine McKellick. She was a lifelong resident of this community.

She married Gerard “Sonny” Gallant in 1956; he passed away in 1980. She married Scott Bither on July 4, 1981; he passed away in January 1994.

She was a communicant of the Parish of the Holy Savior. She enjoyed her life at home, especially sharing time with her family and friends.

Surviving are her children, Tim Gallant and wife, Cathy, Deb Shields and husband, Jamie, Matt Gallant and wife, Stephanie, Mandy Jordan and husband, Brian, and Jodi Sage; two sisters, Jean Cushman and Theresa Ephlin; two brothers, Joe Sakalaukus and Lawrence McKellick; eight grandchildren, Brad Gallant, Angela Gallant, Zachary Shields, Warren Gallant, Vanessa Gallant, Scott Sage, Melanie Jordan and Benjamin Jordan; three great-grandchildren, Cameron Gallant, Jaclyn Torres and Christopher Fields; and dear friends, Kim Dyment and Helen Dolloff.

She was predeceased by her parents; her husband, Gerard Gallant; her husband, Scott Bither; a grandson, Joey Gallant; and several brothers and sisters.
