AUGUSTA (AP) – State officials are lining up with businesses to promote inland tourism in Maine.

Gov. John Baldacci joined in a tourism news conference at the State House Thursday to highlight a project called Maine Woods Discovery that offers vacation packages combining outdoor, recreational and cultural features.

Participants in the announcement and project include Sunday River; Saddleback; Sugarloaf; Maine Huts and Trails; Mountain Counties Heritage; Northern Outdoors; Appalachian Mountain Club; New England Outdoor Center; and Northern Forest Canoe Trail.
