LEWISTON – Lewiston High School Track and Field and Cross Country Booster Club will sponsor a summer track and field series for athletes 15 years of age and older beginning Wednesday, June 24. The meets will run for four consecutive Wednesdays at the Franklin Pasture and Don Roux Field facilities.
Registration each week is at 5:45 p.m. Age groups are 15-18, Open, 40-49, 50-59 and 60-and-over for both men and women.
Meets are sanctioned by the Maine branch of USA Track & Field. Competitors should be registered with MEUSATF. Sign-up materials will be available at the meet site.
Events will include 100, 200, 400 and 800 meters, mile, two-mile, racewalk, shot put, discus, javelin, long jump, high jump and pole vault. Other events may be contested upon request if there are three or more competitors.

Hershey’s track postponed
AUBURN – The Hershey’s Track & Field meet scheduled for Saturday at Edward Little High School has been postponed. The new date and time will be Wednesday, June 24 at 5:30 p.m.
Lewiston Rec tennis
LEWISTON – Lewiston Recreation is sponsoring a men’s and women’s doubles league this summer. Men’s “B” and “C” divisions will be played on Mondays starting June 22. Women’s “B” & “C” divisions will be played on Wednesdays starting June 24. Men’s and women’s “A” divisions will start on Thursday, June 25. There also will be a mixed league on Sundays for all divisions.
All sign-ups must be done at the Lewiston Recreation Department from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday. The fee is $40 per person for residents of Lewiston and $55 for non-residents. This is a seven-week program with playoffs if there is more than one division. Anita Murphy will serve as director.
Camp Hardwood starting at MVMS
MEXICO – Camp Hardwood, a summer basketball program for girls entering grades 3 to 8, will be held next month at Mountain Valley Middle School.
The philosophy of Camp Hardwood is developing a positive attitude and a passion for the game of basketball, emphasizing fundamentals and unselfish play. Week one of the camp will run from July 6-10, with week two scheduled for July 13-17. Grades 3-5 will meet each day from 9 to 10:15 a.m. Grades 6-8 take the court from 10:30 a.m. to noon. Golf tourney at Sandy River
FARMINGTON – The seventh-annual New Vineyard North Snowmobile Club golf scramble is scheduled for Sunday, June 28 at Sandy River Golf Course. Contests begin at noon, with the scramble set for 1:30 p.m. Format is five golfers per team at $25 per player. Hamburgers and hot dogs will be available. Call 778-2492 to register a team.
Children’s Museum golf benefit
SCARBOROUGH – Children’s Museum & Theatre of Maine will host its fourth-annual golf tournament Monday, Sept. 21 at Nonesuch River Golf Club. Shotgun start is scheduled for 9 a.m. Individual fee is $150 or $525 for a foursome. Price includes breakfast and lunch receptions, greens fees and cart.
