Glenice S. Tufts
1919 – 2009
AUBURN — Glenice S. Tufts passed away on June 21, at the Hospice House.
She was born in New Gloucester, on Jan. 6, 1919, to Bemald and Amy Strout Segars, and married Clayton S. Tufts in September 1946.
She enjoyed many years of picnics and camping with family and friends and spent quiet summers on Sabbathday Lake, surrounded by children and grandchildren.
Until the age of 80, she worked as a hairdresser, first in Burlington, Vt., and later in a shop in her home.
She was a lifetime member of Golden Sheaf Chapter 114, Order of the Eastern Star, and a charter member of the Evening Guild of First Congregational Church, New Gloucester.
She is survived by her daughter, Cindy Stevens and her husband, David; sons, Bernald and his wife, Judy and Stephen and his wife, Marianne; five grandchildren, Matthew, Mark, Cory and Breena Tufts and Tina Goodwin; and many great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents; husband; brothers, Guy and Raymond Segars; and two sisters, Berenice Hall and Phyllis Snow.
