Virginia L. Gammon
1931 – 2009
SOUTH PARIS — Virginia “Ginny” Louise Maguire Gammon, 78, of South Paris died Friday, June 19, at Market Square Health Care Center surrounded by her family.
She was born in Auburn, on March 5, 1931, the daughter of Clara Andrews McCallister and Albert Maguire. She graduated from Edward Little High School in 1949, and attended Mid State Business School.
She had been employed at Bon Ann Footwear, Raytheon until they closed and Liberty Mutual in Lewiston. She was a member and past president of the Foster-Carroll American Legion Post 72 in South Paris and TOPPS Maine 277 in South Paris. She married Marshall “Ted” Berry on Nov. 9, 1951, and had two daughters, Barbara Jean and Debbie Louise. She later married Francis Gammon Jr. on Oct. 25, 1969, he passed away on Nov. 2, 1993.
She is survived by her daughter, Debbie Delano and husband, Mark, of Apache Jct., Ariz.; stepchildren, Brenda Vickery and husband, John, of Alajvela, Costa Rica, Dennis Gammon of Athol, Mass., Mike Gammon and Vicki Wilson of Auburn, Joyce Hamel of Auburn and Rodney Gammon and wife, Bonnie, of Auburn; 21 grandchildren; and 32 great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her parents: a sister, Barbara Maguire; and a daughter, Barbara Jean Cronkhite.
