Maine legislator eyes governorship

YORK, Maine (AP) — A second-term Democratic state representative from York says she is running for Maine’s governorship.

The Portsmouth Herald reports that Rep. Dawn Hill said she had been weighing a candidacy for about a year. She describes herself as a fiscal moderate and a social progressive.

Incumbent Gov. John Baldacci is heading into the last year of the second consecutive four-year term allowed in Maine.
