AUBURN — Registration is open for the following YMCA summer swim lesson classes: Parent and Tot, ages 6 to 36 months; Water Babies, 18 to 36 months; Tiny Tots, ages 2 to 5, youth progressive lessons, ages 6 to 12; and adult lessons.
All YMCA aquatic programs are designed to instill confidence in participants and make learning new skills fun and challenging in a positive way. The summer session will run for eight weeks, beginning the week of June 29. 
Parent and Tot class is a 30-minute class designed to introduce infants to the water. A parent is required to participate in the class with the child. Classes are scheduled for Tuesdays at 6:30 p.m. 
Water Babies is a 15-minute class catering to the timid new swimmer and has a 1:1 child/instructor ratio. Classes are held Tuesdays at 10 a.m. or Wednesdays at 4 p.m..  
The Tiny Tot program is geared toward teaching kids to swim and feel safe in and around the water. Placement in this class requires the child to be able to independently hold on to the wall of the pool and keep his or her head above the water. Classes are offered Mondays at 4 p.m., Tuesdays at 10:15 a.m. or 6 p.m., Wednesdays at 2:30 or 3 p.m. or Thursdays at 5 p.m.
Advanced Tiny Tot classes are for children who can jump into shallow water and can swim the length of the pool on their front and back without assistance. The 30-minute class will be offered Tuesdays at 10:45 a.m. or 6:30 p.m., Wednesdays at 3:30 p.m. or Thursdays at 5:30 p.m.
The National YMCA Swim Program youth progressive lessons are designed to improve children’s swimming skills, teach new skills, work on endurance and stroke techniques, as well as survival skills. Each lesson is 45 minutes. New this summer, the YMCA is offering youth “fast track” swim classes where kids meet twice a week for four weeks, as well as the option to meet once a week for eight weeks.
Children will be placed in a class based on their swimming level as follows: Polliwog or Guppy, Thursdays at 6 p.m., fast track, Mondays and Wednesdays at 4:30 p.m.; Minnow, Fish or Flying Fish, Thursdays at 6:45 p.m., fast track, Mondays and Wednesdays at 5:15 p.m.
Registration will be taken on a first-come, first-serve basis and class size is limited. All participants must be YMCA members. A yearly social membership for those ages 5 and under is $25; youth membership, $50. All tiny tot and youth classes have a $55 program fee.
Adult swim lessons are offered Tuesdays at 7:30 p.m. Non-members must pay a $25 adult social membership fee good for a year. All participants must pay the $55 program fee for the eight-week session.
The YMCA is also holding registration for the water exercise and Silver Splash programs.
Water exercise is a 45-minute workout and classes will incorporate cardiovascular conditioning, interval training, resistance exercises and flexibility. Classes are held 8 to 8:45 a.m. Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. 
Silver Sneakers Silver Splash is for all ages and fitness levels and offers shallow water moves to improve agility, flexibility and cardiovascular endurance. A Silver Sneakers kickboard is used to develop strength, balance and coordination. Classes are offered from  9 to 9:45 a.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays.
The water exercise and Silver Splash classes are free to YMCA members. Non-members must pay a $25 adult social membership fee and the $75 program fee for 12 weeks of classes.
Family open swim is offered from 5 to 6 p.m. Tuesdays and from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Thursdays. The open swim is free to members. The cost for non-members is $3 each person or $8 for a family.
