Route 137 in the town of Knox has been closed following the collision of a tanker truck and a passenger vehicle about 11 a.m., according to state police.
The tanker truck was hauling a hazardous liquid which has partially spilled into a nearby Half Moon Stream. The occupants of the passenger vehicle are being transported to Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor. The Lifeflight helicopter was called, but could not respond due to the weather.
The Waldo Sheriff’s Department, State Police and the Department of Environmental Protection are at the crash site. A second tanker truck is enroute to begin pumping out the remaining cargo of the overturned tanker.
