DETROIT (AP) — The Red Wings general manager says Detroit won’t be a big player when free agency opens on Wednesday.

GM Ken Holland said Tuesday the Wings did most of their shopping during the season by extending the contracts of center Henrik Zetterberg and right wing Johan Franzen.

Holland says the team has received no signs from potential free agent Marian Hossa about his plans.

Hossa, who scored 40 goals during the regular season, signed a one-year contract with Detroit because he thought the Red Wings gave him the best chance to win a championship. Instead, he watched Pittsburgh, his former team, beat the Red Wings in a seven-game Stanley Cup thriller.

Hossa has said he wants to stay in Detroit with a long-term deal.
