AUBURN – The city’s political season kicks off Monday as nominating forms for the 15 open city government seats become available.
City Clerk Mary Lou Magno said nominating petitions for mayor, City Council and School Committee seats will be available in her office. She recommends candidates contact her office, at 333-6600, to schedule an appointment to pick up the forms.
Candidates for the mayor’s job each need to collect 100 signatures. Candidates for the City Council and School Committee each need to collect 25 signatures. All candidates will have until Aug. 20 to collect their signatures.
Candidates for the at-large positions, including those for mayor, two at-large city council positions and two at-large school committee positions, can collect signatures from registered voters living anywhere in the city. Candidates for the ward seats must collect signatures from residents of their wards.
Auburn’s municipal election is scheduled for Nov. 3.
