The board of directors of the Maine Cycling Club would like to express thanks to the city of Auburn, its police, public works, rescue, residents and the motorists of Lewiston/Auburn for their support and patience during the Maine Cycling Club’s Race Weekend June 6-7.
More than 500 racers from all over New England, along with their families and friends, attended the Lake Auburn Road Race along Perkins Ridge, West Auburn, Hotel, and Garfield Roads, and the Great Falls Criterium held on a loop around downtown Auburn. Many of these racers stayed in local hotels on Friday and Saturday nights and ate in local restaurants while they were in town. Numerous participants have expressed their pleasure in the races, the courses, and their stay in Lewiston-Auburn, with many expressing a desire and commitment to return to our community next year.
We also wish to express our appreciation to the events’ major sponsors. Without their support, it would be difficult to fund such a major community event. The Maine Cycling Club is a 150-member non-profit organization that promotes cycling as a healthy, family-friendly activity. We host weekly group rides, club picnics and bicycle safety programs. The Race Weekend is our major fund raising activity for the year, and provides the financial resources necessary for the club to conduct its other activities.
We look forward to continued community support next year for the Maine Cycling Club races.

Jim Carmichael, MCC president
