DURHAM — Scott Dugas Construction of Yarmouth has been awarded the contract to reconstruct a 1-mile stretch of Davis Road from Route 136 to Hemlock Drive on its bid of $294,430.
Although the bid was $880 more than Coastal Construction Services, the deciding factor in awarding the contract to Dugas was the firm’s guarantee to complete the project prior to the start of school, Selectmen Chairman Westley Bennett said.
As construction will require closing the road for a time, selectmen wanted it done before the start of school in order to avoid interfering with school bus routes. Construction is expected to begin next week.
Coastal Construction Services of Durham bid $293,550, and Copp Construction, also of Durham, bid $325,985.
