Chief Worumbo race scheduled
DURHAM – The Chief Worumbo Androscoggin River Race, an annual event held in conjunction with the Moxie Festival, is set for Sunday, July 12.
Racing begins at 11 a.m. at the Durham Boat Launch on Route 136. Paddlers in canoes or kayaks in 11 categories from pro/open to family will race six miles downstream to the finish line in Lisbon, under the railroad trestle where the Sabattus River meets the Androscoggin Riverat Route 196.
The race, which was founded and organized by Faye Brown for its first 10 years, is now overseen by the Androscoggin Land Trust.
Registration is $15 before July 6 and $18 thereafter, including race day. Same-day registratin begins at 9 a.m. at the boat launch. Participants are encouraged to arrive well in advance of the 11 a.m. mass start.

Odd Fellows golf tourney
BRUNSWICK – Odd Fellows’ and Rebekahs’ Home of Maine will hold its fourth-annual golf scramble Monday, July 27 at Brunswick Golf Course.
Cost is $90 per person or $350 per team. Prizes will be offered for hole-in-one, closest to pin, longest drive and top teams. Registration begins at 7:30 a.m. with a tee time of 8:30 a.m. For more information, call John at 786-4616 or email jbolduc@ioofme.org.
University of Maine hall of fame nominations
ORONO – The University of Maine is accepting public nominations for its Sports Hall of Fame. Forms may be downloaded at www.GoBlackBears.com. A list of previous inductees also is available on the web site.
In order to be eligible for induction, individuals must be unaffiliated with the university for at least five year. Criteria include character, leadership, integrity, non-athletic service to the university community and achievement later in life.
