Julia C. Polley

1924 — 2009

WALES — Julia C. Polley, age 84, a resident of Oak Hill Road, Wales, died late Thursday evening, July 2 at her home, surrounded by her family.

She was born Aug. 3, 1924 in Lewiston, the daughter of Lorenzo and Dora (Jutras) Cloutier, Sr. Julia attended school in Sabattus. On Dec. 27, 1946 in Lisbon, she married George Maurice Polley, Jr. He passed away Dec. 23, 1995.

She had worked as a dry cleaning attendant at Cummings Dry Cleaners in Auburn. She enjoyed bingo, word search puzzles and spending time with her grandchildren. She also enjoyed cutting firewood with her late husband.

She is survived by two sons, Roger R. Polley and his wife, Madeline, of Clinton, and William N. Polley and his wife, Ann, of Winthrop; seven daughters, Betty L. Brooks and her husband, Ronald, of Sabattus, Jane A. Edwards of Lewiston, Marie R. Larrabee and her husband, Mark, of Litchfield, Nancy J. Catlin and her husband, Lawrence, of Wales, Elaine P. Sirois and her companion, Bruce McFarland, of Wales, Janet L. Sirois and her husband, Dennis, of Wales and Linda M. Polley and her companion, Timothy Allen, of Wales; 19 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; six sisters, Lorraine Packard of Sabattus, Vada Wright of Lewiston, Theresa Bernier of Lewiston, Lucienne Maheux of Lewiston, Aline Poirier of Poland, and Georgette Turcotte of Greene; and two brothers, Wilfred Cloutier of Durham and Bert Cloutier of Greene.

She was predeceased by her parents, her husband, George Polley, Jr., her son, Thomas G. Polley, on Dec. 10, 1997, two sisters, Stella Morin and Rita Roy, her brother, Henry Cloutier, and her son-in-law, Richard Edwards.
