NASHUA, N.H. (AP) — Defense contractor BAE Systems says it plans to eliminate about 250 jobs, and it appears that half of them will be in New Hampshire.
Employees in Nashua got the news Friday, The Telegraph of Nashua reports.
Company spokeswoman Maryellen Tansey says the cuts will be in BAE’s Electronics Solutions section, half of whose 9,000 employees are in southern New Hampshire. Electronics Solutions also operates in the New York-New Jersey area; Austin, Texas; and around Washington, D.C.
Tansey says the cuts are part of companywide preparations for expected reductions in defense contracts.
Tansey says the company is still hiring people with specific skills, including about 850 so far this year.
