William H. Wagg
1923 – 2009
AUBURN — William H. Wagg, 85, passed away at the Androscoggin Hospice House on Saturday, July 11, after battling lung cancer.
He was born to William and Amy (Taylor) Wagg in Bowdoin on July 28, 1923. He married Evelyn Bubier of Greene on June 24, 1955.
He had a great love for horses and was very involved in the harness racing business. He is best known for his talent as a farrier, but also worked as a driver and a trainer. He also enjoyed gardening and could often be found among his crops, weeding and gathering fresh vegetables.
He is survived by his wife and their two daughters, Karlene and her husband, Denis Perron, of Greene and Gailene and her husband, Jack Waite II, of Auburn; 10 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; his sister, Vera Allen of Bowdoin; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents; and his two brothers, Robert and Howard Wagg.
The family wishes to thank all the staff at Androscoggin Hospice House for their kind, compassionate care, not only for Mr. Wagg, but toward the entire family, during his stay there.
