NORWAY — Nate Towne will be the guest host of Norway Open Mic Night on Friday, July 31, at the First Universalist Church, located at 479 Main St.  Sign-up for performers begins at 6:30 p.m., and the open mic starts at 7 p.m. A $3 donation is asked at the door; refreshments will be available..

 
Towne is a singer/songwriter based in western Maine who has performed all over New England and shared the stage with such acts as folk legend John Gorka. Towne’s debut CD, “Short Circuit,” is a collection of 12 original songs reflecting his multi-instrumental talents and rock and roll upbringing. His material runs the gamut from CCR swamp to Neil Young stomp to more introspective ballads.

Norway Open Mic night was founded and hosted by Vessel Recordings artist Heather Pierson in January 2002 All are invited to share their talents — from music to comedy to story-telling to dance and everything in between — in a fun, supportive and noncompetitive atmosphere.
