MONMOUTH — Auditions for The Theater At Monmouth fall production of Rodgers & Hammerstein’s “Carousel” will be held at 6:30 p.m., Monday, July 27, at Cumston Hal, Monmouth.

All interested singers and actors are invited to join us for auditions for the production, which is set to perform Sept. 25 through Oct. 4 at historic Cumston Hall. The production will be directed by Bill Van Horn, with musical direction by Marcia Gallagher. David Greenham is the producing director.

Some of the key roles have been cast, but available speaking and singing roles include: David Bascome, Nettie Fowler, Enoch Snow, and several smaller roles. Members of the chorus are needed as well. Most of chorus and roles will go to adults age 18 and up. There are limited roles for children in this production, including the Enoch Snow, Jr. and the other Snow children.

Those wishing to audition should bring a song to sing and sheet music. An accompanist will be provided. Those wishing to be considered for speaking roles should also be prepared to read from the script.

Chorus rehearsals will begin the last week of August, and staging rehearsals will begin on Sept. 12. This is a very quick, professional rehearsal process and those in the show will be called several evenings a week and at least one weekend day. We will not waste your time and make you sit around when we don’t need you. If you have any conflicts with the performances, we probably can’t include you in the show, but if you have a few conflicts with rehearsals, we can probably work it out. Please come and audition, even if you have questions about conflicts.

Called the “greatest musical of the 20th Century” by Time Magazine, Carousel is the beloved tale of tumultuous relationship between Billy Bigelow and Julie Jordan, set against the late 19th century coastal New England
community.

The show features many wonderful, well-known songs, including “When I Marry Mr. Snow,” “June is Bustin’ Out All Over,” and “You’ll Never Walk Alone.”

The Theater At Monmouth production of Carousel will preview on Thursday, Sept. 24 and open on Friday, Sept. 25. Performances will be September 26th, October 1st, 2nd, and 3rd at 7:30 p.m., and September 27th, October 3rd and 4th at 2 p.m.

The production will be performed with full set, lights, and costumes, at historic Cumston Hall in Monmouth. All rehearsals are scheduled to be held in Monmouth. Accompaniment will be provided by a pit band.

The emphasis of this project is to have a fun time and create a high quality, entertaining show.
