The firing of Lewiston City Administrator Jim Bennett was a horrible and humiliating thing for the Lewiston City Council to do.

My husband and I watch almost every council meeting, and Bennett has always been prepared, knowledgeable and willing to get the answer if he doesn’t have it. We have also seen plenty of in-fighting, drama and clique behavior from the council.

So much for transparency in city government. If Bennett’s performance was that bad, shouldn’t the taxpayers have been informed? They all work for us. The voters will have their chance to go into “executive session” in November and, believe me, this voter will.

I applaud the brothers Peters for not following the others and having their own moral compass.
