Hazel M. Gordon
1924 – 2009
CHESTERVILLE — Hazel M. Gordon, 84, of Chesterville died early Tuesday, July 28, at her home after a short illness.
She was born in East Boston, Mass., Dec. 28, 1924, the daughter of Frederick and Rebecca (Brewster) Balser. She attended school in Burlington, Mass. The family then moved to Chesterville in June 1940.
She married Harold Gordon March 2, 1946 in Farmington, he died in 1997. As a young lady, she worked at Forsters Manufacturing and then for a while as a welder durring World War II, settling in at the Tannery in Wilton until her retirement at the age of 72.
She enjoyed fishing, cooking, shopping, doing puzzles, picking raspberries and spending time with her children and grandchildren.
Survivors include three sons, Alden “Skip” Gordon and his wife, Irene, of Waterville, Carl Gordon of New Portland and and Warren Sam Gordon of Chesterville; eight grandchildren, Michael, Sherry, Candy, Carla, Joe, Hiedi, Mark and Susan; 15 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Ethel Pratt and Arliss Gould; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her husband; grandson, Paul; and six brothers, Fred, Raymond, Gordon, Ralph, George and Richard.
