A skipper and crew from each of four Maine clubs competed for a shot at the state championship in Boothbay Harbor on Aug. 4. Fournier, a seventh-grader at Auburn Middle School, qualified to compete in the regional race by winning the Taylor Pond Yacht Club’s annual McGuckian Cup race. Bouchard placed second in the McGuckian Cup, earning the spot to crew with Fournier.
