JAY — A Jay man faces felony charges after jewelry valued at $6,500 was taken from a Davis Road residence Wednesday.

Jacob Couture, 19,  was arrested Wednesday on charges of burglary and theft for unauthorized taking, said Sgt. Troy Young of the Jay Police Department. Couture visited the home Wednesday and is believed to have taken some jewelry, he said. After he left, the owner realized items were missing and called police. A watch and four rings valued at $6,500 were among the pieces taken, he said.

Officer Michael Mejia said during an investigation, he obtained a confession from Couture who also admitted to entering the home in June and taking items. The jewelry was still in Couture’s possession and was returned to the owner, Young said.
