Leslie A. Bickford
1944 – 2009
LEWISTON — Leslie (Les) A. Bickford, 64, of Maple Hill Road, Auburn died Wednesday, July 29, at Marshwood Nursing Facility.
He was born in Waterville, Nov. 28, 1944, a son of the late Glenwood and Catherine (Provencher) Bickford. He was educated in Waterville and graduated from Lawrence High in 1962. He then went on to graduate from Wentworth Institute in 1965, and attended Northeastern University.
Les married the love of his life, the former Linda Stelmok on Aug. 1, 1981. He worked all his life with computers and went on to be co-owner of ME-NH Computer Service. He was a member of St. Phillip’s Church and also the Stanton Bird Club.
He loved the outdoors, enjoying walks in the woods, mountain trails, along the beach; going skiing in the winter, and spending time at his camp, “Summer Memories” on Morrill Pond in Hartland. He also looked forward to playing cards with his in-laws every Saturday night. He was a quiet man, but would be the first to lend a hand to anyone.
He leaves his wife of 28 years, Linda, of Auburn; two sisters, Louise Blackburn and her husband, Charles, of California, and Cynthia Cyr and her husband, Rod, of New Hampshire; three brothers, Harold Bickford and his wife, Janice, Ronald Bickford and his wife, Cheryl and Glenn Bickford and his wife, Nancy, all of Benton; his mother-in-law, Helen Stelmok of Auburn; a brother-in-law, Jerry Stelmok of Atkinson; two sisters-in-law, Louella Bickford and Sue Bickford, both of Benton; and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents; two brothers, Gerald and Scott Bickford; and his father-in-law, Anthony Stelmok. He will be missed by all including the couples pets, Callie, Timothy and Tippy.
