Katherine Gardner Dow

LEWISTON — Katherine Gardner Dow, 92, formerly of 270 Webster St., Lewiston, died Saturday, Aug. 1, at Central Maine Medical Center.
Born in Annapolis, Md., on Dec. 6, 1916, she was the daughter of Rudolfe and Jean (Hartman) Faber. After completing her schooling in Maryland, she moved with her parents to Long Island, N.Y.
While working as a buyer for W.T. Grant she met and married the store assistant manager, Avard Dow on Oct. 8, 1938. They moved to Portland in 1940 and their son, Avard Jr. was born there in 1943. After the war, they moved to Lewiston.
Katherine was very proud of her service with the Women’s Hospital Association of Central Maine Medical Center, the Patroness of Saint Mary’s Hospital, the Women’s Literary Union of Auburn and the Women’s Club of the Main Street Baptist Church of Lewiston. She also enjoyed camping, fishing and hunting with her husband during their 67 years of marriage.
She is survived by her son, Avard Jr. of Naples; and a sister, Rudalee Redican of Gouldsboro, Pa.
She was predeceased by her parents and her husband, Avard Sr.
