Kenneth L. “Ken” Breton
1951 – 2009

MATTAWAMKEAG — Kenneth L. “Ken” Breton, 58, formerly of Wilton, died Wednesday, Aug. 5, at his home in Mattawamkeag, after a courageous battle with cancer.

He was born May 20, 1951, in Farmington, the son of Louis A. and Maxine (Melcher) Breton. He graduated in 1969 from Wilton Academy and enlisted in the U.S. Army. He was extremely proud of being a Vietnam veteran, having served in Vietnam from 1971 to 1972.

He returned home to Wilton, where he was employed at G.H. Bass for a number of years and later at Cousineau Lumber in East Wilton. In 2006, he moved to Mattawamkeag; shortly thereafter he was stricken with cancer and valiantly fought a three-year battle against the disease.

He is survived by his son, Joseph P. Breton of Augusta; a sister, Nancy L. Welch of Farmington; a nephew, David Higgins of Dryden; two nieces, Kristin Higgins of Farmington and Alissa Karkos of Orlando, Fla.; three half brothers, Gary Breton and Louis Breton of Florida, and Mike Breton of Connecticut; two half sisters, Louise Ross of Livermore and Mary Ann Plecity of Connecticut; a granddaughter, Taylor Breton; and a grandson, Isaiah Breton.
