Legendary jazz guitarist Lenny Breau will be the focus of a free concert from noon to 6 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 16, featuring many area artists. Performing in Auburn’s Festival Plaza will be Denny Breau with Brad Terry, Steve Grover and Sean Mencher; The Distributors; The L-A Harley Band; Kevin Kimball and the Steel Drivers; Fender Bender, Krome; Broad Street Band; Arlo West and the Pinecasters, above; Fred Aberle; Rick Graham; Frank Coffin; and surprise guests. The musicians will come together to celebrate the genius of Breau, whose talents as a jazz guitarist are world renowned, yet his legacy in not well recognized in his home town of Lewiston-Auburn. A memorial plaque will be presented to younger brother Denny Breau. Proceeds from a raffle for a guitar package and a silent auction will help fund the Lenny Breau Memorial Scholarship to be awarded annually to a deserving student for music education. Auction items include certificates from local restaurants, a complete auto reconditioning, a portable grill, salon services and video games. Pro sound production services will be donated by Greg Keneborus and Shawn Donovan of HPA Productions. The Auburn Police Explorers will be on hand and there will be food and other vendors. Bring a lawn chair. Rain date is Sunday, Aug. 30.
