Paddlers introduce themselves before heading downriver during the Androscoggin River Source to the Sea Canoe Trek in Jay on Friday. Seven paddlers put in at Pine Island and paddled a 3- to 4-mile loop back to the island while discussing the history and features of the river. The trek’s next stage will be a paddling parade in Auburn on Aug. 22 during the Great Falls Balloon Festival. Paddlers will gather at Festival Plaza at 11 a.m.. Pre-registration is required.
