Sue Foss from the Mallet School staff thins the carrots at the Hope Harvest Garden at Franklin Memorial Hospital, Farmington. School staff showed up at both weekly open garden sessions recently. Besides harvesting beet greens, lettuce and chives, and weeding, they sowed beet greens and cucumbers and put the big tomato plants back in their cages. Businesses or organizations that would like to volunteer during open harvest hours or weeding Wednesday hours, 2 to 4 p.m., or to find out more about the garden should call Eileen Liddy at the Healthy Community Coalition at 779-2923.
