NORWAY – In order to accommodate the Norway Triathlon, Pennesseewassee Park will be closed until noon Saturday, July 11.
The park, launch area and schoolhouse parking areas will be closed to nontriathlon competitors until noon. Any boaters wishing to launch their boats in Pennesseewassee before noon are welcome to launch at the nearby Norway Lake Marina.
Spectators are welcome to provide encouragement to competitors along the route (maps are available at www.norwaytri.com). The swim leg of the triathlon will kick off the event at 8:30 a.m. from the beach.
The 18k bike race will be next, heading out and back along the Greenwood Road, turning at the Richardson Hollow Road.
The foot race will leave Pennesseewassee Park and proceed up Ashton, Sodom, and Country Club roads before returning to finish in the park. Lunch and the awards ceremony will be wrapped up by 11:30. The park will be cleaned and reopened by noon.
