RUMFORD – Jeannette M. Conant, 85, formerly of Hancock Street, Rumford, died Thursday, Aug. 20, at Rumford Community Home.
She was born in Rumford on April 21, 1924, a daughter of Maria (Guilmette) and John Belanger Sr.
Jeannette was educated in Rumford schools and was a graduate of Stephen’s High School, class of 1943.
She was employed for 34 years with Boise Cascade as a Lab Tech, and was a member of the Boise 25 and 40 year clubs. Jeannette was a communicant of Parish of the Holy Savior. She loved spending time with her family and knitting.
Surviving are a son, Milton Gallant and wife, Judy, of Rumford; two grandchildren, Derek Gallant and wife, Kim, of Barnstead, N.H., and Shane Gallant and wife, Kathryn, of Canton; six great-grandchildren, Emma, Elizabeth, Jacob, Jenna, Sage and Risa Gallant; a sister, Theresa Fitzmorris of Rumford; a brother, John Belanger Jr. of Rumford; and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her first husband, Alfred Gallant; her second husband, Dwayne Conant; and many brothers and sisters.
