CHESTERVILLE — Two Gardiner residents were charged Sunday after police said they broke a window and stole 27 packages of cigarettes from the Chesterville Mall, formerly known as the Corner Store.
Dustin Matthews, 18, and a 17-year-old boy each face a charge of felony burglary and misdemeanor charges of theft and criminal mischief, Franklin County Sheriff’s Lt. Niles Yeaton said Monday.
A manager of the business on Dutch Gap Road reported the burglary Sunday morning before the store was to open, he said.
Officer Ken Charles investigated the burglary, which occurred at about 1 a.m. Sunday when a rock was thrown through a front window, Yeaton said.
There was $150 worth of cigarettes stolen and an estimated $100 damage to the window, he said.
