A portion of Route 196 near the Lisbon-Topsham town line was closed for several hours Friday night while firemen from three departments battled a stubborn blaze at the L. J. Kennedy Trucking Company yard on Route 196.

Several large trailers loaded with gypsum were on fire in the company lot adjacent to the U.S. Gypsum Company in Lisbon Falls.

The cause of the fire was not immediately known. Just over a year ago in late July, a similar fire at the trucking company lot caused an estimated $100,000 in damages.

At that time fire officials speculated that the fire may have started by combustion.
