OTISFIELD — A reception was held at the East Otisfield Free Baptist Church after the 10 a.m. service on June 7 to say farewell to the Rev. Dan Carr and his wife, Jan, who have served the church for so long.
The Carrs came to the church a few months after the death of long-time pastor Gertrude Decoteau. Carr served as the church’s interim minister.
The group that met in the fellowship room of the church said goodbye to the Carrs and welcomed the new pastor, Genise Knowlton.
After cake and beverages were served, the Carrs were presented a basket of gifts. Individual members of the church had selected gifts they felt would have special meaning to the Carrs.
Gary Dyer presented a tree to the Carrs to symbolize the growth of the church under their care. A similar tree was presented to Knowlton to symbolize the potential for the church’s growth under her care.
Services are held at the church on the Rayville Road in East Otisfield at 10 a.m. Sundays. All are welcome.
